Tyre, Al-Bass, Byzantine Arch
Tyre (Phoenician צר, ṣūr, "rock"; Greek Τύρος; Latin Tyrus): port in Phoenicia and one of the main cities in the eastern Mediterranean.
The small arch at the eastern entrance of the Al-Bass archaeological site in Tyre is heavily restored. Probably Byzantine, it is the easternmost monument of the anient city, giving access to the main road through the necropolis.
