The so-called King's Gate
Originally a town of the Hatti, the original population of Central Anatolia, before the Hittites arrived
Captured by king Anitta, ruler of Kussara and Kaneš, who accepted the titel of "great king" and cursed Hattusa
c.1650 BCE: in spite of the curse, the town was refounded by a descendant of Anitta who took the city's name as personal name and called himself Hattusili, "the man from Hattusa" (r. c.1650-c.1620)
