Penteconter

Pentekonter (Greek πεντηκόντορος): a small warship with fifty rowers, popular in the Archaic Age of Greece.

The pentekonter was a small warship, already mentioned in Homer's Odyssey, with a length of some thirty meters, with two times twenty-five rowers, a captain, a small crew, and a flute player. By the end of the sixth century BCE, the triere was the main type of warship, but pentekonteres remained in use.
